Senior Buyer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential aerospace organization seeking a Senior Buyer to execute end-to-end procurement activities across UK and EU operations. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will balance tactical purchasing with commercial delivery, ensuring supply continuity, cost control, and supplier compliance across borders.

Procurement Execution

• Execute end-to-end tactical purchasing, converting business requisitions into purchase orders and contracts while ensuring timely delivery and quality
• Resolve issues as they occur and mitigate aircraft-on-ground situations

Supplier Coordination

• Manage day-to-day operational issues with UK and EU suppliers, acting as primary escalation point for delivery or quality defects
• Support commercial negotiations on mid-tier contracts, focusing on price, service levels, and payment terms to optimize working capital
• Monitor and report on supplier KPIs, contract compliance, and savings metrics

Cost and Process Control

• Maintain procurement data accuracy across systems
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities

Stakeholder Support

• Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure demand requirements are met
• Partner with Logistics to verify origin of goods for tariff-free movement claims

Compliance

• Ensure compliance with internal policies and UK/EU regulatory frameworks including GDPR, Modern Slavery Act, and relevant procurement legislation
• Drive ESG and sustainability initiatives within the supply base, including carbon reduction and ethical sourcing

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years of procurement experience
• Experience in aerospace, defence, or aerospace maintenance environments
• Demonstrated effective purchase order management
• Strong negotiation skills
• Ability to operate effectively in a multicultural, multilingual supplier environment
• Proficiency with ERP systems such as AMOS or D365
• Ability to work autonomously and influence stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills with ability to synthesize large amounts of disparate data
• Proficiency in understanding and utilizing appropriate Incoterms and import/export requirements
• Legal right to work in the UK with ability to produce right-to-work documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience sourcing across multiple European markets with understanding of regional supplier dynamics
• CIPS qualified or equivalent procurement certification
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

This is a full-time, permanent position based in London (Hammersmith) with a hybrid schedule requiring three days per week in the office. Travel requirements are approximately 10–20%.
