Analytics Engineering Lead

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential energy technology client seeking an Analytics Engineering Lead to join their data team. This is a hybrid position based in London, Bristol, or Edinburgh, requiring three days per week in the office.

Please note: This role requires existing right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

As Analytics Engineering Lead, you will set the gold standard for data practices across the organization. Your core responsibilities include:

• Defining and enforcing engineering best practices including CI/CD and modularity across the data organization
• Developing advanced modelling solutions for complex scenarios and researching modern data stack tooling
• Owning the long-term vision for data modelling and designing data governance frameworks
• Acting as lead responder for GDPR-related incidents and data privacy matters
• Partnering with Product teams to shape the Analytics Engineering Roadmap
• Translating complex business needs into technical requirements and solutions
• Championing a data-driven culture across the organization
• Bridging the gap between high-level business goals and technical implementation

What We're Looking For

Essential skills and experience:

• Expert-level proficiency in SQL and dbt, with strong focus on clean, reusable, and testable code
• Mastery of dimensional data modelling with ability to develop solutions for highly complex scenarios
• Proven ability to drive adoption of new standards, patterns, and tools across multiple teams without direct authority
• Exceptional communication skills—able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and senior business leaders
• Strong stakeholder management experience with ability to extract core requirements in complex, cross-functional environments
• Deep, end-to-end understanding of the data lifecycle from ingestion and transformation through to consumption

• Experience owning and driving a long-term data modelling strategy, not just contributing to one
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing data governance frameworks
• Experience acting as lead responder for GDPR or data privacy incidents
• Track record of leading rapid proof of concepts to validate new technologies or approaches
• Experience contributing to broader data organization strategy and influencing data culture at an organizational level
