Senior Applied AI Engineer – Remote

CLANX is hiring a Senior Applied AI Engineer for a full-time, remote position. You'll own the complete lifecycle of production machine learning systems—from initial experimentation through deployment, optimization, and continuous improvement in a regulated, enterprise environment.

Role Overview

As a Senior Applied AI Engineer at CLANX, you'll architect and deliver production-grade AI systems that solve complex, document-intensive business challenges. This hands-on role balances cutting-edge model research with operational reliability, requiring deep ownership across the entire ML lifecycle to build secure, scalable systems that enterprise customers depend on daily.

Core Duties

• Lead end-to-end delivery of production AI and ML systems from research and prototyping through deployment and ongoing optimization.
• Train, fine-tune, and optimize large language models and open-weight models for production deployment.
• Develop and maintain scalable data processing, model training, and inference pipelines.
• Drive continuous improvement across model accuracy, latency, reliability, and operational cost.
• Implement MLOps best practices including deployment automation, CI/CD workflows, model monitoring, and automated retraining systems.
• Build evaluation frameworks, benchmark datasets, and quality assurance processes for production models.
• Design and maintain robust APIs and microservices exposing AI capabilities to other systems.
• Partner with product, backend, and frontend teams to integrate AI into customer-facing workflows.
• Monitor live systems and drive performance improvements across infrastructure and models.
• Research and evaluate emerging AI techniques, tools, and frameworks to advance the platform.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of professional experience as an AI Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, or equivalent role.
• Strong hands-on expertise training, fine-tuning, and deploying machine learning models to production environments.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, and scikit-learn.
• Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining production ML systems at scale.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and cloud ML services such as SageMaker, Vertex AI, or equivalent platforms.
• Deep understanding of API design principles and distributed system architecture.
• Proven experience implementing MLOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and model observability.
• Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL and modern data infrastructure patterns.
• Experience with large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and vector databases is a strong advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
