Senior Accountant – Hybrid – NL/BE/DE/LU/FR

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential software organization seeking a Senior Accountant to join their European finance operations. This is a hybrid position based in Germany, with occasional travel to other group offices across the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France for period closings, statutory audits, and team collaboration.

We are looking for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment and wants to take ownership of critical financial processes.

Responsibilities

• Execute financial period close tasks, including complex journal entries and accounting analysis
• Perform balance sheet analysis, reviews, and account reconciliations
• Manage vendor relationships, cost accruals for P&L review, and payment processing with appropriate approvals
• Reconcile inter-company transactions across multiple entities
• Prepare and process payroll tax returns, VAT returns, and intra-community declarations for local entities
• Lead annual statutory audits, year-end financial statement closings, and tax filings
• Prepare financial KPIs and management reporting, ensuring accuracy
• Conduct monthly variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecast
• Support the finance leadership team in supervising AP/AR analysts, including reviewing work, coaching, and onboarding
• Ensure key controls and procedures are respected and implement new processes where needed
• Participate in special finance projects as required

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in a professional environment
• Multi-currency and multi-divisional accounting experience (essential requirement)
• Professional qualification in bookkeeping and/or accounting preferred
• Strong expertise in accrual accounting theory and practice
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
• Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite knowledge is a plus
• Detail-oriented self-starter who excels at process improvement and problem-solving
• Genuinely curious mindset with ability to quickly learn new systems and desire for professional growth
• Team player who embraces challenges and wants to own their area of responsibility
• Fluency in English required; Dutch, German, or French language skills are advantageous
• Currently authorized to work in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, or France (visa sponsorship not available)
