Security Engineer III – Security Operations

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization in their search for a Security Engineer III to join their Security Operations team. Our client is a well-funded technology company operating in the payments infrastructure space, and they need an experienced security professional to strengthen their detection and response capabilities across their cloud environment.

This is a fully remote position based in the United Kingdom, offering the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful security detection work while building automation that makes the team more effective.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver detection and response projects end-to-end, from creating new detection rules to implementing fully automated responses within your area of ownership
• Build, tune, and maintain detections across the SIEM (Elastic) and AWS environment, identifying and closing gaps in existing coverage
• Own an investigation queue: triage, investigate, escalate, and resolve security incidents with clear documentation
• Build runbooks and automations using Python and no-code tools to reduce manual work in triage and response processes
• Make and document risk decisions within your area, escalating appropriately when needed
• Support the compliance programme by maintaining audit-ready controls and contributing evidence for audits such as SOC 2 and PCI DSS
• Use Terraform and Python to build and maintain the infrastructure supporting your detections and tooling
• Participate in the on-call rotation for incident response and monitoring

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

• Hands-on experience building and tuning detections in a SIEM platform (Elastic preferred; Splunk, Sentinel, or similar also welcome)
• Proven experience with AWS and cloud-native detection and response
• Proficiency with Python for scripting and automation
• Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools
• Working knowledge of the MITRE ATT&CK framework
• Real-world experience triaging, investigating, and resolving security incidents
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to document findings clearly and structure information effectively

Nice to Have:

• Experience with no-code security automation or SOAR-style tools (such as Zapier or Tines)
• Exposure to compliance frameworks including PCI DSS, SOC 2, or ISO 27001
• Background in fintech, payments, or another regulated industry
