Role Overview
As a Clinical Informaticist Nurse (RN-CI), you'll serve as a strategic leader in healthcare information technology within SSM Health's ministry and regional operations. This position combines your clinical nursing background with informatics expertise to design, implement, and optimize electronic health record (EHR) systems and integrated clinical applications. You'll work at the intersection of clinical workflow and technology, ensuring that our systems support frontline healthcare teams in delivering exceptional patient outcomes.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Partner with clinical departments to design EHR solutions and coordinate technology adoption initiatives
- Provide comprehensive training and ongoing support to hospital and clinic staff on Epic and integrated clinical systems
- Analyze clinical workflows to identify inefficiencies and recommend system enhancements that advance quality and safety
- Troubleshoot complex technical and workflow issues, working days, evenings, and nights as needed to maintain system reliability
- Lead change management efforts by presenting informatics solutions and gathering feedback from clinical teams
- Support new installations and system deployments across hospitals, clinics, and departments
- Deliver in-person and remote support to clinical users, ensuring successful EHR adoption and compliance with downtime procedures
- Travel within the organization to provide on-site technical and educational support
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives using continuous improvement methodologies
Who We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, or a related field
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by your state of employment (compact multi-state license accepted)
- Minimum three years of relevant healthcare experience, including at least two years in direct clinical practice
- At least one year of experience in health IT, EHR support, or clinical application administration
- Epic certification (CLN01 preferred) required within your first year of employment
- Informatics Nursing Certification (RN-BC) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) required within 24 months of hire
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort navigating complex healthcare workflows
