About This Position

As a Retail General Manager – Trainee at Pilot Company, you'll work under the guidance of experienced leadership to master all aspects of retail operations at our Inver Grove Heights travel center. This structured management development program combines on-the-job training with formal development to prepare you for independent management responsibility. You'll gain exposure to real-world decision-making, strategic thinking, and operational excellence across a busy retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily retail store operations, including opening and closing procedures, under management supervision
• Lead, train, and support team members while modeling company values and customer service standards
• Monitor sales performance, inventory levels, and merchandise presentation to optimize revenue and store appearance
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements specific to travel center retail operations
• Assist with scheduling, payroll oversight, and staff performance management
• Partner with store leadership to solve operational challenges and implement continuous improvements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Proven retail or customer service experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment
• Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and develop others
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for retail operations
