Retail General Manager – Trainee

Position Summary

This full-time management training position prepares you to lead retail operations at one of our travel centers. You'll develop core management competencies while supporting store leadership, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring excellent customer experiences. As a trainee, you'll receive structured mentorship and progressively expand your responsibilities toward a full manager role.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising and coaching retail staff across shifts, ensuring service standards and operational compliance
• Monitor inventory levels, merchandise displays, and stock rotation to maintain product availability and visual appeal
• Support sales floor operations and point-of-sale management during peak and off-peak periods
• Contribute to customer service excellence and handle customer concerns with professionalism
• Participate in cash handling, reconciliation, and loss prevention practices
• Support implementation of company policies, safety procedures, and health and sanitation standards
• Collaborate with store management to develop and achieve sales and operational targets
• Learn scheduling, payroll administration, and team performance management under guidance

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven retail or customer service experience, ideally in a supervisory or team-lead capacity
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Physical capability to perform retail duties including lifting and standing for extended periods
• Demonstrated reliability, work ethic, and willingness to learn
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
