About the Role
Northwestern Memorial Healthcare seeks a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Assistant to support our Sleep Disorders Center. In this role, you'll be part of a dedicated team diagnosing and treating sleep-related conditions. You'll work alongside sleep specialists and pulmonologists to ensure patients receive high-quality diagnostic care and education about their sleep health. Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake procedures, including vital signs assessment and medical history documentation

- Assist with diagnostic equipment setup and operation during overnight or day sleep studies
- Monitor patients during testing and respond promptly to any concerns or questions
- Document patient observations and clinical findings accurately in the electronic health record
- Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot sleep study equipment between patient appointments
- Coordinate with physicians and nursing staff to ensure seamless patient flow and care quality
- Answer patient questions about test results, medications, and sleep hygiene recommendations
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA) or willingness to obtain certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Ability to operate medical diagnostic equipment with precision
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients from diverse backgrounds
- Proficiency with electronic health records and basic computer applications
- Reliable transportation and ability to work full-time day hours
