Join Brockton Public Schools as a Basketball Referee for the Community Schools Basketball (BCB) program. This is a full-time opportunity to support recreational youth athletics in Brockton, Plymouth County, and help develop young athletes through fair, professional game management.
What This Role Involves
You'll serve as an official referee for youth basketball games within the BCB recreational program. Your role is to enforce game rules, maintain game integrity, and create a positive environment where young athletes can develop their skills and love of the game. You'll work directly with players, coaches, and families across the Brockton community.
Key Responsibilities
- Officiate basketball games according to official rules and league standards
- Make fair and consistent calls on fouls, violations, and scoring
- Manage game flow and communicate clearly with players and coaches
- Maintain professionalism and composure throughout games
- Report game results and any incidents as required by the program
- Attend rules clinics and training sessions to stay current with officiating standards
Who We're Looking For
- Experience working with or coaching youth sports, particularly basketball
- Strong knowledge of basketball rules and officiating standards
- Ability to make fair decisions under pressure in front of diverse audiences
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Commitment to creating a positive, inclusive environment for all participants
- Flexible availability to work games during school-year and seasonal schedules
