Project Engineer UK

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential smart-city technology client expanding across the UK. As Project Engineer, you will lead end-to-end rollout of installations across council sites, ensuring smooth delivery from kick-off to handover. You'll oversee configuration and commissioning of camera units to meet each council's requirements.

You will train and certify partners on installation and maintenance of solutions, ensuring compliance with quality and uptime standards. Acting as the interface between installation partners and headquarters, you'll coordinate schedules, priorities and escalations.

In this role, you'll serve as the named technical point of contact for councils, triaging and resolving issues within defined SLAs. You'll conduct site surveys to validate camera types and installation locations, and produce execution packs for installers. You will coordinate spares and replacements to minimise downtime, produce regular reports and progress updates for management, and manage stock levels and accurate records to keep projects on track.

Regular regional travel across the UK is an integral part of this position, as you'll be working hands-on with hardware in the field.

What We're Looking For

• At least 5 years experience in technical delivery or field operations, ideally in council, public-sector, or similarly complex environments
• Track record of deploying and commissioning hardware or camera systems
• Confident managing multiple projects simultaneously and keeping stakeholders informed
• Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical audiences
• Organised, proactive, and able to work independently
• Full working proficiency in English
• Valid UK driving licence required

Bonus qualifications:

• Understanding of electrical systems, outdoor installations, and pole/camera fixings
• Familiarity with CCTV or EV charging infrastructure
• Experience with UK local authorities or the public sector
