Professional Services Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential data platform organization seeking a Professional Services Engineer based in Sydney, Australia. This is a remote position supporting enterprise customers across the region as they modernize their data infrastructure and adopt AI-powered automation capabilities.

As a customer-embedded technical professional, you will lead the deployment and implementation of an AI-driven data automation platform, transforming legacy ETL workflows into modern, autonomous data pipelines. You'll architect production-grade integrations, solve complex technical challenges, and enable customers to leverage agentic AI capabilities within an 8-12 week delivery window.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement production-grade integrations and distributed data systems for enterprise customers using Python, SQL, and modern API development
• Transform legacy ETL/ELT workflows into modern, autonomous data pipelines across cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) and Kubernetes
• Integrate AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic) and leverage AI code generation tools to accelerate delivery and enable agentic capabilities
• Take technical solutions from kickoff to production within defined timelines, owning outcomes throughout the delivery cycle
• Navigate between deep technical problem-solving and strategic alignment conversations with customer executives
• Flex across technical delivery, customer communication, and commercial support as needed in this growing market

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrable experience building production-grade software with strong programming ability in Python, SQL, and API development
• Data engineering background with hands-on experience in ETL/ELT tools, gained as a Data Engineer, DBA, or similar role
• Strong grasp of data architecture and data structures, with ability to assess and redesign customer data environments during migrations
• Comfortable wearing multiple hats and adapting to evolving responsibilities in a newer regional market
• Proven track record completing migration and deployment projects to defined timelines while working directly with customer stakeholders
• Must be located in or near Sydney, Australia to support regional customers effectively
