About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential European semiconductor manufacturing organization seeking a Process Development Engineer for their Berlin facility. Our client is at the forefront of advanced packaging technologies, developing next-generation solutions for industrial and IoT applications. This role offers the chance to shape innovative manufacturing processes from concept through production implementation.
Responsibilities
- Develop new process technologies for semiconductor packaging, focusing on wafer, substrate, and panel processing methods
- Evaluate and select suppliers for process equipment, managing procurement projects through implementation and reporting
- Define process boundaries and design rules within Assembly Design Kits (ADKs), supporting new product and process initiatives
- Collaborate closely with process engineering, industrial engineering, quality management, and procurement teams to deliver tailored manufacturing solutions
- Ensure quality standards, project objectives, and stable production processes are maintained throughout development cycles
- Conduct process analyses and prepare detailed reports on new manufacturing technologies, including embedded multi-chip packages
- Drive yield improvement, process stability, and reproducibility in high-volume production environments
What We're Looking For
- University degree in microsystems technology, semiconductor engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering, or comparable field
- Industrial experience developing packaging processes such as substrate processing, panel or wafer singulation, molding, and assembly processes including wirebond, die attach, or flip chip
- Strong knowledge of assembly and interconnection technologies including soldering, chip-on-board, dicing, wafer processing, and encapsulation
- Deep understanding of mechanical processes on wafers, substrates, and metallization layers, and their impact on product quality, development timelines, and costs
- Proven experience addressing process-oriented challenges in series production, particularly yield optimization, stability, and reproducibility
- Excellent skills in statistical and mathematical methods, data-driven process analysis, and equipment specification and acceptance testing
- Negotiation-level German and good English language skills required
