Principal Platform Engineer

Join QVC as a Principal Platform Engineer in a full-time position. We're seeking an accomplished platform engineering leader to drive the evolution of our infrastructure and core systems across 2 locations.

About This Position

As Principal Platform Engineer at QVC, you'll lead the design, development, and scaling of platform infrastructure that powers our business. This is a senior-level role where you'll set technical direction, influence architecture decisions, and mentor engineering teams. You'll work with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and foundational services that impact millions of transactions and customer interactions. Your expertise will shape how QVC's engineering organization builds, deploys, and operates at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement platform architecture strategies that enable teams to ship features faster and operate systems reliably
• Design, build, and maintain core infrastructure components including APIs, data pipelines, and deployment systems
• Lead technical initiatives across teams, driving standardization on tools, frameworks, and best practices
• Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Collaborate with product, operations, and security teams to ensure platform decisions align with business objectives
• Troubleshoot complex, production issues and implement lasting solutions

What We're Looking For

• Deep expertise in platform engineering, systems design, or infrastructure development
• Proven track record building and scaling distributed systems in production environments
• Strong programming skills in modern languages and frameworks
• Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, and orchestration technologies
• Demonstrated ability to lead technically, influence peers, and communicate complex ideas clearly
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to reliability, performance, and security
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
