About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential laboratory services organization seeking an intern for Lean Management and Operational Excellence. This internship offers hands-on experience applying continuous improvement methodologies in live laboratory environments while supporting a central operational excellence network across multiple locations.
Location: Berlin, Germany
Start Date: October 2026
Duration: Minimum three months
Working Hours: 40 hours per week

Responsibilities
During your internship, you will connect practical Lean Management application in Berlin-based laboratory facilities with support for the broader operational excellence network. You will analyze real processes, develop concrete improvements together with on-site teams, and support implementation. Simultaneously, you will contribute to group-wide lean activities including training, workshops, communications, and campaigns.
- Document and analyze operational processes using value stream mapping, spaghetti diagrams, and multi-moment studies
- Independently manage a detailed study or lean initiative from problem definition through implementation to results presentation
- Collect and analyze relevant metrics and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented improvements
- Develop practical solutions with local teams in areas such as 5S, FIFO, visual management, and process standardization
- Support preparation, organization, and documentation of lean workshops, training sessions, and events
- Create presentations, posters, templates, and communication materials for the group-wide operational excellence network
- Handle administrative and organizational tasks supporting group-wide lean activities and campaigns
- Present analyses, developed measures, and achieved results to involved teams and relevant decision-makers
- Support projects at additional locations within the DACH region as needed
What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Business Informatics, Supply Chain Management, or comparable field
- Interest in a minimum three-month mandatory or voluntary internship
- Strong interest in Lean Management, Operational Excellence, continuous improvement, and operational process analysis
- Analytical, structured, and independent working style with enthusiasm for developing and implementing improvements collaboratively
- Excellent communication skills and enjoyment working with diverse stakeholders in a multi-site environment
- Very good German and English language skills, written and spoken
- Willingness to work regularly on-site at Berlin laboratories and occasional travel within the DACH region
- Prior practical experience in Lean Management, continuous improvement processes, process optimization, or metrics analysis is advantageous but not required
