Model Validation

Vanguard seeks a Model Validation professional to join our team at one of two key locations. As a Model Validation specialist, you will ensure the integrity and effectiveness of our quantitative and analytical models across the enterprise.

Position Summary

In this full-time position, you will develop and execute comprehensive validation frameworks for financial models used across Vanguard's business operations. Working alongside risk management and analytics teams, you'll assess model performance, identify potential weaknesses, and recommend improvements to ensure our models meet regulatory standards and organizational requirements. Your work will directly support sound decision-making across the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement model validation methodologies and testing protocols
• Conduct detailed reviews of model assumptions, inputs, and outputs
• Perform backtesting and sensitivity analysis to assess model reliability and performance
• Document findings and prepare validation reports for stakeholders and compliance teams
• Collaborate with model developers to address identified issues and enhance model robustness
• Monitor ongoing model performance against established benchmarks
• Support the development of model governance policies and standards

Requirements

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
• Proficiency in financial modeling, statistical analysis, or risk assessment
• Experience with quantitative validation techniques and methodologies
• Proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as Python, R, or SQL
• Knowledge of financial instruments, risk management frameworks, or regulatory requirements
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, engineering, computer science, finance, or related field
