About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential telehealth organization specializing in evidence-based treatment for anxiety-spectrum disorders. We are seeking independently licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC) and Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) in New York who are on the pathway to earning their Diagnostic Privilege (Dx P) but have not yet completed the full 2,000 hours of supervised experience required by New York State.
This role is designed for candidates who already qualify for the Diagnostic Privilege in every respect except the completion of supervised hours. Our client will provide the qualified clinical supervision needed to complete your remaining hours while you build a caseload and gain specialized training in obsessive-compulsive disorder and related conditions, with a clear path to full Dx P and independent diagnostic authority.
Responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based therapy to members via video platform, under required clinical supervision toward your Diagnostic Privilege
- Manage your own caseload and schedule
- Maintain complete, timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record system
- Participate in regular supervision sessions focused on diagnosis, psychotherapy, and assessment-based treatment planning — the core competencies required for Dx P
- Participate in clinical consultation and specialized training in exposure-based therapies
- Collaborate with a network of providers to develop and reinforce treatment decisions
- Fulfill 40-hour work week with 25 hours of direct clinical work per week
- Attend 2 hours of weekly group clinical consultation
- Provide 10 hours of weeknight/weekend availability after 5pm local time
- Treat children and adolescents after completing specialized training
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications for Diagnostic Privilege Pathway:
- Master's degree in a relevant mental health field
- Full, unrestricted New York license as an LMHC or LMFT in good standing
- At least 1,000 of the 2,000 required hours of supervised direct client contact already completed — experience must include diagnosis, psychotherapy, and the development of assessment-based treatment plans, in a setting acceptable to NYSED
- Qualifying graduate coursework already completed covering NYSED's four required content areas (diagnosis and assessment-based treatment planning; assessment, evaluation and diagnosis using accepted classification systems; developing and implementing assessment-based treatment plans; and clinical interventions with diverse populations), as reflected on your official transcript
- Able to secure third-party certification of the above — your graduate program's registrar and a qualified supervisor or licensed colleague must be willing to complete and submit the certification sections of NYSED Forms 2D and 4D on your behalf
- Practical experience independently diagnosing (may be satisfied during pre-licensed supervised experience)
- At least 6 months of relevant experience with evidence-based therapies such as ERP, CBT, or ACT
- Knowledge and experience treating OCD with exposure-based therapy preferred but not required
Personal Attributes:
- Organized, quick and enthusiastic learner with excellent communication skills
- Strong time management abilities
- Comfortable and efficient with technology
- A confidential, private location to work remotely from with reliable internet access
- Ambitious and ready to keep up with a goal-driven environment
Please note: An offer of employment for this role is contingent upon the accurate and complete submission of the relevant clinical portions of New York State Education Department Forms 2D (Certification of Education) and 4D (Certification of Experience) by your graduate program's registrar and your qualified supervisor or licensed colleague.
What the Client Offers
- A qualified clinical supervisor who holds the Diagnostic Privilege in your profession, to supervise and attest to your remaining hours toward the 2,000-hour requirement
- Support navigating the NYSED application and certification process
- Specialized clinical training and ongoing consultation in exposure-based therapies for OCD
- Dedicated teams handling marketing, billing, credentialing, and scheduling
- 1:1 mentorship for complex cases
- Competitive compensation with robust bonus program (base salary range $70,000–$95,000; bonus program averaging $12,400 per year for eligible providers)
- Comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) match for qualifying employees
- Generous PTO; 12 weeks fully paid parental leave (primary caregiver), 6 weeks (secondary caregiver) for qualifying full-time employees
- A clear career path, including full independent Diagnostic Privilege upon completion of your remaining supervised hours
