Medical Assistant Float PRN

Vumc is hiring a Medical Assistant Float PRN for our Nashville, TN healthcare facility. This is a full-time position where you'll provide flexible clinical and administrative support across multiple departments and patient care units throughout our organization.

About the Role

As a Medical Assistant Float PRN at Vumc, you'll deliver essential clinical and administrative support in a dynamic, multi-departmental environment. Float positions require adaptability and clinical acumen—you'll move between different units and specialty areas, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care and operational efficiency across our Nashville facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and clinical workflows across various departments
• Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient intake information accurately
• Prepare and position patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures
• Perform phlebotomy and assist with basic laboratory and diagnostic procedures
• Document clinical information and maintain complete, confidential patient records in our electronic health system
• Support clinical supply management and prepare treatment areas for patient visits
• Deliver compassionate patient care while adapting to diverse clinical settings and departmental protocols

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Completion of an accredited medical assistant program or equivalent healthcare experience
• Current certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent preferred)
• Strong clinical assessment and communication abilities
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and manage multiple responsibilities
• Proficiency with electronic health records systems and medical software applications
• Flexibility to work across departments and varied clinical settings
• Current understanding of HIPAA compliance and patient privacy standards
