Care Partner, 9 South Surgical Specialties Night Shift

Vumc is seeking a full-time Care Partner for the 9 South Surgical Specialties night shift in Nashville, TN to join our healthcare team. This role provides essential patient care support during overnight hours on a surgical specialties floor.

About the Role

As a Care Partner on 9 South Surgical Specialties, you'll be a vital member of our patient care team, working nights to support post-operative and surgical patients throughout their recovery. You'll collaborate closely with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive compassionate care and assistance with their immediate needs during nighttime hours. This position requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to patient comfort and dignity.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, grooming, and personal care needs
• Help maintain clean, safe, and comfortable patient environments throughout your shift
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and address requests for comfort or assistance
• Support nursing staff with patient positioning, turning, and mobility assistance as directed
• Communicate patient concerns and observations to the nursing team
• Help patients with meals and beverages when appropriate
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition or comfort to licensed staff
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all healthcare facility protocols and HIPAA requirements

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED; some healthcare experience or training is a plus
• Ability to work the night shift schedule reliably and consistently
• Physical capability to assist patients safely, including lifting and mobility support
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a care team
• Compassion for patients and commitment to providing respectful, person-centered care
• Willingness to follow direction from nursing and medical staff
• Professional demeanor and strong work ethic
