Manager, Safety Operations

We're hiring a Manager, Safety Operations at Pilot Company in Knoxville, TN. This is a full-time position leading safety compliance, risk mitigation, and operational protocols across our facilities.

Role Overview

As Manager of Safety Operations, you'll take ownership of Pilot Company's safety infrastructure and culture. You'll develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs that protect our team members, customers, and assets while ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership, reporting directly to senior management and collaborating across departments to drive a safety-first mindset throughout our Knoxville operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute safety policies, procedures, and training programs tailored to retail and operational environments
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and address hazards
• Investigate incidents and accidents; document findings and implement corrective actions
• Manage safety compliance reporting and maintain documentation required by OSHA and other regulatory bodies
• Lead safety training sessions and coordinate ongoing employee education
• Analyze safety metrics and KPIs; develop improvement initiatives based on data and industry best practices
• Partner with HR, operations, and facility teams to embed safety into day-to-day workflows

Requirements

• 3+ years of safety management or operations experience, preferably in retail, logistics, or hospitality environments
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance frameworks
• Strong communication skills; ability to explain complex safety concepts clearly to diverse audiences
• Proficiency with safety documentation systems and incident tracking software
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to act decisively under pressure
• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in occupational safety or related field is a plus
• Current or ability to obtain relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour) is valued
