In this role, you will contribute to the development, qualification, and production of materials for Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) additive manufacturing applications. You'll work across the complete lifecycle of critical hardware—from early development through qualification and production—supporting material characterization, powder management, process parameter development, and quality documentation.
Responsibilities
- Support material characterization campaigns with internal laboratories and external testing partners, assisting in the analysis of powder, metallurgical, microstructural, and mechanical testing data
- Contribute to materials and process development activities, including alloy development, process parameter optimization, and heat treatment studies
- Assist with LPBF build preparation, process monitoring, and post-build evaluation
- Operate LPBF machines and associated equipment following appropriate training protocols
- Prepare structured build reports and material test data summaries with consistent documentation standards
- Support creation and continuous improvement of work instructions, manufacturing procedures, qualification documentation, and standardized reporting templates
- Contribute to quality improvement activities including non-conformance investigation, data collection, and corrective action tracking
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing operations, propulsion, and quality teams across multidisciplinary projects
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Strong fundamentals in materials science, material characterization methodologies, and mechanical testing
- Demonstrated interest in additive manufacturing technologies and aerospace applications
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail with ability to document technical work clearly and consistently
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and international teams
- Fluent in English
Preferred:
- Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant engineering or materials field
- Experience with LPBF technology or other additive manufacturing processes
- Experience with metallography, microscopy, powder characterization, or mechanical testing
- Knowledge of aerospace materials such as nickel-based superalloys, titanium alloys, copper alloys, and stainless steels
- Experience in laboratory, manufacturing, or research environments
- Experience preparing laboratory reports, build reports, work instructions, test documentation, or technical procedures
- Proficiency in Excel, Python, R, or similar tools for data analysis and visualization
