Lead Data Engineer

We are representing a confidential technology services organization seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join their growing team in Argentina. This is a client-facing leadership role where you'll architect and implement enterprise-grade data platforms using Snowflake, modern cloud technologies, and best-in-class data engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of data ingestion architectures in Snowflake, ensuring scalability and reliability across enterprise systems
• Own end-to-end ELT pipeline development integrating multiple data sources and complex business requirements
• Design and enforce data quality frameworks including validation rules, testing strategies, and comprehensive monitoring
• Apply and drive Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) best practices across all data pipelines
• Build and optimize data pipelines and architectures on AWS using services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, and EMR
• Develop and enhance data validation and ingestion frameworks, including UI components when needed
• Act as a technical leader, establishing best practices in data engineering, governance, and pipeline reliability
• Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and data quality issues before they impact delivery
• Contribute to data governance initiatives including data definitions, lineage, and stewardship practices
• Drive documentation and continuous improvement of data platform processes and standards

What We're Looking For

Required Experience and Skills:

• 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering with demonstrated senior-level or lead capability
• Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake (required)
• Proven experience building ELT pipelines and data ingestion solutions at scale
• Solid experience with SQL and large-scale data processing
• Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Medallion Architecture (required)
• Experience with data quality, validation frameworks, and governance practices
• Strong communication skills for client-facing interactions and technical leadership
• Proactive mindset with ability to anticipate and mitigate risks

Preferred Skills:

• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines in AWS
• Familiarity with Snowflake Cortex
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for data workflows
• Experience with Iceberg tables and Snowflake data sharing
• Knowledge of tools such as dbt, Glue, Athena, EMR, Lambda, Terraform, or CloudFormation
