K9s For Warriors Inc is seeking a dedicated K9 Caretaker - Part Time to join their team in the Town of Nocatee, St. Johns County.

About the Role

This position supports the mission of providing service dogs to veterans coping with PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and military sexual trauma. The caretaker works directly with the dogs, ensuring their health, comfort, and readiness for training while contributing to a nonprofit that saves lives at both ends of the leash.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and distribute meals according to each dog’s dietary plan
  • Perform grooming tasks such as brushing, bathing, and nail trimming
  • Provide daily exercise, enrichment activities, and supervised play sessions
  • Monitor dogs for signs of illness or distress and report observations to veterinary staff
  • Maintain clean and sanitized kennels, runs, and common areas
  • Assist trainers with basic obedience cues and socialization exercises
  • Record feeding, health, and behavior notes in logs or digital systems
  • Help with the intake and transition of new dogs into the program
  • Follow safety protocols and handle dogs calmly and confidently

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with dogs in a kennel, shelter, veterinary, or training environment
  • Strong understanding of canine body language and behavior
  • Ability to lift and manage dogs of various sizes safely
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow detailed instructions
  • Compassionate attitude toward animals and veterans alike
  • Basic computer skills for maintaining records
  • Availability to work the scheduled part‑time shifts
  • Commitment to the organization’s zero‑cost service dog model for veterans
