About This Opportunity
We are representing a fully remote Canadian accounting firm that serves over 300 small and mid-sized businesses across the country. Our client specializes in cloud-based accounting and tax services for clients in the $1M to $10M revenue range, including professional services, technology companies, agencies, e-commerce, and non-profits.
This Junior Tax Accountant role is ideal for an experienced tax professional with at least 2 years of Canadian tax preparation experience who is comfortable working directly with clients in a remote environment. You'll focus on gathering client information and preparing personal (T1) and corporate (T2) tax returns, with ongoing training and support to develop your expertise.
Responsibilities
- Communicate directly with clients to collect information and documents needed for tax return preparation and provide status updates throughout the process
- Prepare Canadian personal and corporate tax returns using established templates and processes
- Prepare tax slips, election forms, compilation engagement reports, and related documentation
- Apply appropriate credits, adjustments, and deductions to minimize client tax liabilities
- Assist the Tax Manager with research of simple to moderate complexity and explain tax issues to clients
- Support CRA reviews and audits by compiling required information and documentation
- Stay current on tax code changes and accounting principles to ensure accurate filings
- Prepare tax-related manual journal entries for financial statements
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Minimum 2 years of experience preparing Canadian tax returns
- Proficiency in English
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote, paperless environment
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills
- Client-focused approach with excellent communication abilities
- Willingness to learn and be coached
- Ability to work overtime during peak tax season as needed
- Must pass criminal background check and employment verification
Preferred:
- Post-secondary education in accounting or related field
- Experience with cloud-based accounting and tax software
- Bookkeeping experience
- French language skills

Pay
Pay via Get A Job.ai: $60,000 - $65,000 CAD per year
