About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cybersecurity organization in their search for a Principal AI Developer Experience Architect. This is a unique opportunity to serve as the technical authority for AI engineering tooling in a rapidly growing product organization with 800+ developers.

In this role, you will architect how enterprise-grade AI coding assistants and LLM platforms integrate into engineering workflows, ensuring AI-generated code is trustworthy, performant, and secure by default. You will define standards, guardrails, and frameworks that make AI tooling a seamless part of the development lifecycle across hundreds of repositories.

Responsibilities

  • Design the end-to-end architecture for AI-augmented development, integrating AI coding assistants and LLM platforms with IDEs, CI/CD pipelines, and internal platforms
  • Architect how large-context LLMs consume codebase and documentation context to scale AI assistance safely across a polyglot environment
  • Define and maintain global AI coding standards and skills frameworks that enforce language, framework, security, performance, and reliability patterns
  • Translate standards into prompt templates, tool configurations, and policy-as-code for automatic enforcement
  • Partner with InfoSec, Data Governance, and Legal to ensure AI tooling adheres to organizational policies, data residency, and compliance requirements including FedRAMP
  • Lead integration of AI-powered code review tools using AST analysis and static/dynamic checks to enforce standards before human review
  • Integrate AI review signals with SRE observability stacks to correlate code changes with production incidents and anomalies
  • Encode "safety as code" by integrating test coverage, performance scans, and progressive delivery patterns into AI-authored workflows
  • Serve as principal technical owner for AI developer tooling evaluations using structured criteria and data-driven analysis
  • Design and run POCs, define technical success criteria, and produce executive-ready recommendations
  • Act as the technical face of AI developer experience to the engineering organization, publishing guidance, patterns, and internal frameworks
  • Partner with learning and development teams to define curricula and hands-on labs that build prompt engineering and AI-assisted development skills
  • Translate adoption and productivity signals into DORA metrics and ROI narratives for engineering leadership and finance stakeholders
  • Work with SRE and reliability engineering to ensure AI-accelerated delivery improves MTTR, change failure rate, and SLO performance
  • Own engineering intelligence dashboards and leadership reports surfacing the impact of AI tooling on developer productivity

What We're Looking For

Experience:

  • 10+ years in software engineering, platform/dev tools, or infrastructure engineering
  • Significant experience operating at Staff or Principal level in a 300+ engineer product organization
  • 3+ years designing and shipping LLM-powered developer tools or workflows in production environments
  • Proven track record architecting developer platforms or large-scale internal tooling used by hundreds of engineers

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of LLM context window design, retrieval strategies, and prompt engineering at scale with large polyglot codebases
  • Hands-on experience integrating enterprise AI coding assistants into IDEs and Git hosting platforms
  • Strong background in AST-based code analysis, static/dynamic analysis, and policy-as-code for automated PR review
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD systems and progressive delivery, and how to embed AI in those pipelines
  • Strong grounding in security and compliance for SaaS and AI/ML systems

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Experience acting as a cross-organizational technical leader, aligning Staff/Principal engineers, engineering managers, and product managers around shared architecture and standards
  • Comfortable presenting technical tradeoffs and ROI to senior leadership with data-driven recommendations
  • Proven ability to mentor and partner across product and technology organizations to deliver complex multi-quarter programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to produce clear design documents, evaluation criteria, and developer-facing guidance
