(Junior) Data Scientist

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization in the consumer insights space. Our client is seeking a talented Junior Data Scientist to join their product development team in Hamburg (hybrid) or remote within Germany. You'll work at the intersection of AI, data science, and product engineering—building production-ready systems that make advanced analytics accessible to non-technical users.

Responsibilities

• Design and build agentic AI systems using frameworks like Pydantic AI, including tool registries, prompt engineering, grounding strategies, and orchestration of LLM-based workflows
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to translate business requirements into technical specifications and integrate AI features into production platforms
• Automate data analytics and insights visualizations that non-technical users can interpret and apply, enabling researchers and brand managers to leverage advanced methods without technical expertise
• Implement advanced market research methods that are both scientifically valid and easy to use through automation
• Build and deploy machine learning models (supervised, unsupervised, LLM-based) end-to-end—from prototyping through production deployment
• Contribute to AI observability and evaluation practices using tools like Langfuse and inspect-ai to monitor, trace, and improve AI systems in production
• Stay current with advancements in AI, LLMs, and agentic architectures, incorporating new techniques and sharing insights with the team

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• University degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field
• At least one year of professional experience in Data Science and AI building production-grade products
• Production-level experience building agentic AI systems or LLM-powered applications, including prompt engineering, tool-use patterns, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or similar approaches
• Strong programming skills in Python with proficiency in relevant frameworks and libraries (FastAPI, Pydantic/Pydantic AI, Pytest, Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn)
• Experience with LLM integration (Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar providers)
• Software industry experience delivering high-quality, scalable services via APIs to production
• Ability to write clean, well-tested, maintainable code in professional codebases with code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD practices
• Excellent problem-solving skills with comfort in ambiguity and eagerness to learn new tools and technologies
• Fluent English with excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure for software deployment (Kubernetes, Helm) and AI observability tooling (Langfuse, LLM tracing)
• Experience in or passion for market research, marketing, or consumer insights
