Senior Accountant/ Finance Specialist (m/w/d) – remote

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential education-technology organization seeking a Senior Accountant/Finance Specialist to serve as their central finance point of contact. In this role, you will own the complete operational finance function, building processes from the ground up and implementing automation wherever possible.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Operational Finance: Manage accounts payable and receivable, invoice processing, payment monitoring, and collections
• Payment Operations: Handle daily banking operations, reconcile bank statements, and oversee payment flows
• Expense Management: Process travel and team expenses through modern digital platforms
• Revenue Reconciliation: Match app store, digital marketplace, and payment processor transactions with bank receipts
• Tax and Compliance: Act as the primary liaison with external tax advisors and serve as the contact person during audits and regulatory reviews
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales and other departments on deal structures, commission calculations, and financial reporting
• Payroll Coordination: Calculate sales bonuses, prepare and approve domestic and international payroll including multi-country platforms
• Financial Closing: Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual closings under HGB standards, plus budgeting and financial planning
• Systems Implementation: Lead the introduction of new finance software, maintain master data, and optimize finance processes
• Automation and AI: Identify opportunities for automation, build integrations between tools, and actively leverage AI to improve efficiency

What We're Looking For

• Experience: Several years in finance with broad responsibility across multiple disciplines including accounting, payroll, and financial closings—ideally as the sole finance lead
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with DATEV is required; experience with tools like Scopevisio, Spendesk, or HubSpot (in finance/sales contexts) is advantageous
• Digital Mindset: Strong affinity for digital tools and AI; actively uses AI platforms to enhance productivity
• Work Style: Independent, proactive, and comfortable with full ownership of your domain
• Languages: Excellent German and good English required
• Location: Remote within Germany
