Heavy Duty Mechanic – TNDC

Join Finning as a Heavy Duty Mechanic in Iskut, BC, to diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment and diesel engines. This is a full-time position with a leader in the heavy equipment industry across Western Canada.

About the Role

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic at Finning, you'll work on complex diesel-powered equipment and machinery that keeps mining, construction, and industrial operations running. You'll perform both routine maintenance and emergency repairs, requiring quick problem-solving and technical expertise to minimize downtime for our customers.

Core Duties

• Diagnose mechanical problems using testing equipment and technical troubleshooting
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel engines and hydraulic systems
• Repair and replace components including transmissions, differentials, and electrical systems
• Conduct inspections and pressure tests to ensure equipment reliability and safety
• Document work completed and maintain accurate service records
• Follow safety protocols and industry regulations while working with heavy equipment

What We're Looking For

• Trade certification in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or equivalent qualification
• Solid knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power equipment
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
