Role Overview

Finning is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at the Artemis B.W Mine. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with large-scale mining equipment, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components in a fast-paced operational setting. You'll be responsible for diagnosing equipment faults, performing routine and preventive maintenance, and executing repairs that directly impact production schedules and site safety.

Core Duties

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty equipment including excavators, haul trucks, loaders, and support machinery
• Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
• Service and rebuild diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical assemblies
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and technical knowledge
• Document all maintenance and repair work, maintaining accurate service records
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental protocols required in mining operations
• Collaborate with operators and supervisory staff to prioritize repairs and maintenance schedules

Qualifications

• Trade certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or equivalent formal training
• Proven experience servicing large mobile equipment, preferably in mining or quarrying
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability across hydraulic, diesel, and electrical systems
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a safety-critical environment
• Current driver's license and willingness to operate equipment as needed
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
