About This Opportunity

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential fusion energy organization in Munich. This is a rare opportunity to lead licensing and regulatory strategy for next-generation energy infrastructure in Germany. You'll define the regulatory pathway for advanced research facilities and commercial power generation projects, working directly with federal, state, and local authorities to demonstrate that ambitious industrial projects can move quickly in Europe without compromising safety or compliance.

Responsibilities

• Own the licensing and regulatory strategy for advanced stellarator facilities, engaging with German federal, state, and local authorities
• Lead site feasibility evaluation from a licensing and regulatory perspective for commercial fusion power plant projects
• Identify the simplest, fastest viable path through licensing and permitting requirements while maintaining full safety and compliance standards
• Build trust-based relationships with regulators, government bodies, and industry stakeholders
• Represent the organization in policy forums and industry working groups to help shape modern fusion regulatory frameworks
• Partner with engineering teams to ensure facility design decisions and licensing requirements inform each other early in development
• Coordinate with finance and operations on cost, schedule, and resourcing implications of different regulatory pathways
• Collaborate with legal counsel to identify and mitigate regulatory risk
• Translate complex and unfamiliar regulatory requirements into practical, executable plans
• Identify licensing risks, critical dependencies, approval milestones, and potential regulatory blockers early
• Develop regulatory positions, submissions, evidence packages, and engagement strategies
• Build and scale a licensing and regulatory function across multiple sites and jurisdictions
• Report directly to senior operations leadership with clear recommendations on regulatory strategy, risk, and progress

What We're Looking For

• Substantial experience navigating licensing and regulatory environments for complex industrial or energy infrastructure projects
• Proven ability to work effectively with regulators and government bodies, building credibility and trust over time
• Track record of finding simplicity in complex regulatory environments and reducing bureaucratic friction
• Strong bias toward speed and pragmatic action
• Highly collaborative working style with ability to connect across engineering, finance, operations, and external partners
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Fluent in English; German language skills are a strong plus
• Experience in nuclear fission and/or fusion licensing is beneficial but not required
• Based in or willing to relocate to Munich
