The Fedcap Group is seeking a Head of Software Engineering to lead enterprise application engineering, integration architecture, DevOps, and AI-enabled solution delivery for a mission-driven, geographically distributed organization across the United States. About the Role
Reporting to the SVP of Enterprise Systems & Digital Platforms, the Head of Software Engineering scales an established engineering practice so that applications, integrations, and intelligent automation remain secure, scalable, compliant, and aligned with enterprise architecture and governance. You will reduce technical fragmentation, accelerate modernization, embed AI into enterprise workflows, and partner with Infrastructure, Security, and Data & Analytics teams to deliver measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and evolve enterprise application architecture, approved technology stacks, and consistent development frameworks.
- Lead modernization of legacy systems while rationalizing redundant custom solutions across business units.
- Mature SDLC governance, code review, testing, version control, and release management with audit-ready documentation.
- Advance CI/CD pipelines, observability standards, and engineering productivity benchmarks, including AI-assisted development tooling.
- Govern API-first integration patterns, replacing brittle point-to-point connections, and expand RPA and workflow automation.
- Partner with Data & Analytics to embed predictive models and AI-enabled decision support responsibly and securely.
- Embed secure coding and shift-left practices, coordinating vulnerability remediation with the Security team.
- Manage engineering budgets, build-versus-buy analysis, vendor lifecycles, capacity planning, and delivery forecasting.
- Lead distributed onshore, nearshore, and offshore engineering teams.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership of enterprise software engineering, architecture, and DevOps functions at scale.
- Deep expertise in application modernization, API and integration architecture, and CI/CD maturity.
- Experience embedding automation and AI capabilities into enterprise systems and workflows.
- Strong grounding in compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II, and ISO 27001.
- Track record managing engineering budgets, vendor relationships, and distributed global teams.
- Skilled in portfolio governance, intake prioritization, and aligning roadmaps to strategic objectives.
