What This Role Involves
As a Recreational Activities Specialist at Okgov, you'll design, coordinate, and manage recreational programs that serve diverse community members. You'll work directly with county residents—from children and teens to seniors and families—planning activities that promote health, social connection, and community engagement. Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and execute recreational programs, events, and activities for various age groups and interests
- Develop program schedules, coordinate logistics, and manage registrations and attendance
- Manage program budgets, track expenses, and ensure efficient use of county resources
- Promote recreation programs to the community through outreach, marketing, and partnerships
- Supervise and coordinate staff and volunteers during program delivery
- Ensure participant safety and compliance with county policies and regulations
- Track program outcomes, gather feedback, and recommend improvements
- Collaborate with other county departments and community organizations to expand recreational opportunities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework or certification in recreation, sports management, or related field preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in program coordination, recreation management, or community services
- Strong organizational and communication skills with ability to engage diverse populations
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with program registration or event management software
- Valid Oklahoma driver's license and willingness to pass a background check
