Role Overview
As a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist with Okgov, you will guide individuals with disabilities through the rehabilitation process in Tulsa County. This position combines counseling, assessment, and coordination to remove barriers to employment and connect clients with sustainable work opportunities aligned to their abilities and career goals.
Core Duties
- Conduct intake interviews and comprehensive assessments of clients' skills, limitations, work history, and vocational potential
- Develop individualized rehabilitation plans in collaboration with clients, families, and healthcare providers
- Coordinate medical, psychological, and vocational evaluations to inform rehabilitation strategies
- Counsel clients on employment options, education, and training resources available in Tulsa County
- Liaise with employers to identify job opportunities and facilitate successful job placements
- Monitor client progress, adjust plans as needed, and provide ongoing support throughout rehabilitation
- Maintain detailed case files and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in rehabilitation counseling, psychology, social work, or closely related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Strong interpersonal and counseling skills with ability to build trust with diverse populations
- Knowledge of disability types, vocational assessment tools, and rehabilitation best practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency with case management systems and standard office software
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as position may require travel within Tulsa County
