About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential social science research organization seeking a Graduate Student Research Assistant to join their survey methodology department in Mannheim. This role focuses on cutting-edge work evaluating AI-generated survey data quality through programmatic analysis pipelines.

You'll work with a specialized team that develops data quality indicators, guidelines, and tools for researchers. The position centers on a project building automated systems to detect quality issues in synthetic survey data generated by AI systems.

Responsibilities

  • Co-develop data quality analysis pipelines in R and Python, integrating existing packages and creating new workflows
  • Collect, process, and analyze survey data, including AI-generated datasets
  • Research literature and software tools for silicon sampling evaluation and data quality metrics
  • Prepare technical documentation and presentations for research findings
  • Provide administrative support for AI-related survey research initiatives

What We're Looking For

  • Strong programming skills in R; Python experience is a plus
  • Solid understanding of statistical concepts and methods, both theoretical and applied
  • Demonstrated experience processing and analyzing social science data
  • Reliable, rigorous approach to problem-solving with ability to work independently
  • Proficient English; German language skills are advantageous
  • Currently enrolled in a Master's program at the intersection of social and data science (Social Data Science, Computational Social Science, Big Data, Sociology, Political Science, or related fields with quantitative focus)

Position Details

This is a temporary graduate research assistant position based in Mannheim, approximately 40 hours per month. The role offers flexible working hours with options for mobile work, supporting work-life balance. You'll gain experience on relevant research at the intersection of survey methodology and artificial intelligence.
