Lead Data Scientist

ServiceTitan is hiring a full-time Lead Data Scientist based in the United States to drive innovation in financial planning and strategy through machine learning and generative AI. As the lead data scientist for our Finance organization's data science team, you'll architect and deploy advanced analytics solutions that guide critical business decisions and shape how we forecast, optimize spending, and allocate resources at scale.

The Opportunity

Few data scientists get the chance to lead at the intersection of machine learning excellence and enterprise financial strategy. In this role, you'll design sophisticated forecasting, optimization, and generative AI systems that inform executive-level decision-making across ServiceTitan. You'll build the infrastructure and team that sets new standards for analytical rigor in financial planning, working on problems that directly impact company direction and growth.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and production deployment of machine learning, forecasting, optimization, and generative AI solutions for financial planning and analysis
• Translate business challenges into rigorous data science problems by partnering closely with Finance leadership and key stakeholders
• Architect scalable machine learning systems and data infrastructure that Finance teams rely on for ongoing analysis
• Select the optimal modeling approach—traditional ML, time series forecasting, constrained optimization, or generative AI—based on the problem, and design experiments to validate competing strategies
• Establish best practices in forecasting accuracy, anomaly detection, and optimization across the Finance organization
• Transform model outputs into clear, executive-ready business recommendations
• Champion strategic, multi-quarter initiatives that improve financial planning and operational efficiency
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to deploy models into production systems with a focus on scalability and performance
• Mentor and develop data scientists on your team in forecasting, optimization, and generative AI
• Develop creative, innovative solutions to current and emerging business challenges

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of professional experience as a data scientist developing production machine learning models, with at least 5 years of specialized experience in time series forecasting, anomaly detection, and/or resource-constrained optimization
• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline
• Expert-level proficiency in SQL and Python, with deep expertise across the data science ecosystem including PyTorch, Transformers, scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, scipy, and statsmodels
• Extensive hands-on experience designing, building, and deploying production forecasting and optimization models
• Demonstrated experience applying generative AI to real business problems, including developing and testing GenAI solutions
• Experience building agentic workflows and implementing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures
• Strong foundation in statistical methods including hypothesis testing, experimental design, and causal inference
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure (Azure AI Studio and related services)
• Ability to combine analytical results with business acumen to create actionable recommendations, particularly in financial or operational contexts
• Strong communication skills for translating complex technical concepts into insights for Finance and executive stakeholders
• Proactive, collaborative mindset with genuine passion for problem-solving and delivering business impact

The expected salary range for this role is $185,300 to $247,800 USD for United States-based candidates (actual compensation varies based on qualifications, experience, and location), along with annual bonus and equity as part of your total compensation package.
