Staff Product Designer, Business Banking

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential UK fintech organization in their search for a Staff Product Designer to join their Business Banking division. This is a player-coach role where you'll lead design strategy across multiple squads while managing and developing a small team of designers.

Our client serves hundreds of thousands of business customers and is rapidly expanding their product offering. You'll work on complex, end-to-end experiences that directly impact how small businesses manage their finances.

This role is based in Cardiff or UK remote, with occasional travel to London for collaborative sessions.

Responsibilities

• Set the long-term design vision and lead large, end-to-end design projects within Business Banking
• Deliver high-impact design work while managing and developing a small number of designers
• Navigate tradeoffs and guide strategic product decisions across ambiguous problem spaces
• Partner with cross-functional leaders (product, engineering, research, data) to define and execute product strategies
• Raise the bar for design craft and establish quality benchmarks across the organization
• Proactively address systemic challenges and reduce complexity to enable better team delivery
• Act as a visible ambassador for Design, sharing work and impact across the company
• Mentor designers across the discipline and foster a culture of growth and collaboration

What We're Looking For

• Expert-level craft with deep expertise in a specific design discipline and strong foundational skills across all areas of product design
• Experience managing designers with a passion for developing others while remaining hands-on
• Strategic thinking ability to shape product direction within a multi-squad domain
• Proven track record delivering high-impact design work that drives customer outcomes and achieves commercial goals
• Excellent visual, UI and interaction design skills with the ability to think through complex interaction patterns
• Curiosity about developing your craft and learning new tools, ways of working, and technology
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and lead teams in complex, fast-changing environments
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to improve ways of working and deliver value
• Passion for growing and shaping design teams through hiring, onboarding, and creating scalable resources
• Pragmatic and proactive approach, balancing quality with practical delivery needs

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: £110,000 - £125,000 plus stock options

Additional benefits include flexible working hours, £1,000 annual learning budget, work-from-home equipment support, and visa sponsorship if required. Relocation assistance to the UK is available for qualified candidates.
