General Manager

Greene King is seeking a skilled General Manager to lead operations at our Herongate, Essex, GB location. This full-time position offers the opportunity to drive business success whilst managing a dynamic team in one of the UK's leading hospitality businesses.

What This Role Involves

As General Manager, you will take charge of all day-to-day operations at your establishment, setting the strategic direction and ensuring consistent delivery of excellent service and results. You'll be responsible for building and motivating a strong team, managing financial performance, and creating a welcoming environment that keeps customers returning. This role requires hands-on leadership, commercial acumen, and a genuine passion for hospitality.

What You'll Do

• Oversee all operational aspects including staffing, scheduling, training, and performance management
• Drive revenue growth and profitability through effective management of costs, stock, and resources
• Maintain high standards of customer service and ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements
• Lead health, safety, and food hygiene practices across the establishment
• Build strong relationships with customers, staff, and suppliers to support business objectives
• Monitor and analyse business performance, taking corrective action where needed
• Represent Greene King professionally within the local community

Requirements

• Proven experience managing hospitality venues or similar customer-facing businesses
• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams
• Sound commercial awareness and experience with P&L responsibility
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Knowledge of food safety, health & safety, and licensing regulations
• Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required
