We are representing a confidential quantitative trading firm in their search for a Front End Software Engineer based in London. Our client is building sophisticated browser-based operational tools for expert users, and they need someone who combines deep technical expertise with a passion for elegant user interfaces.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of internal tooling at a leading financial technology organization, working with typed functional programming and modern web technologies to create powerful, polished applications.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement next-generation browser-based operational tools
• Build sophisticated user interfaces that balance high usability standards with power-user functionality
• Create reusable libraries and abstractions that capture common interaction patterns
• Contribute to development practices and firm-wide UI standards
• Collaborate closely with traders and end-users to understand requirements
• Work across the full stack including front-ends, back-ends, middleware, and databases as needed

What We're Looking For

• Strong background in web technologies including CSS, DOM manipulation, and browser fundamentals
• Deep understanding of modern UI frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular, or Flutter
• Proven experience building sophisticated, polished user interfaces in the browser
• Passion for the detailed work required to create elegant and highly usable UIs
• Interest in typed functional programming approaches to UI construction
• Experience with languages like Elm, ReasonML, Purescript, TypeScript, or OCaml is a plus
• Fluency in English is required
