IT Security Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential financial services organization seeking an IT Security Engineer to join their global infrastructure security team in London. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who builds security solutions through code and automation rather than primarily operating security tools. You'll be working with a highly skilled IT Engineering group that supports a sophisticated computing environment spanning multiple continents.

In this position, you'll focus on securing enterprise IT platforms with an emphasis on Windows infrastructure. You'll spend your time writing PowerShell modules, Python scripts, and integrating security products via their APIs. This is a role for builders who can design strategic security controls, automate intelligent workflows, and make technical decisions about where to focus remediation efforts.

Responsibilities

• Proactively design, test, implement and document strategic security controls for IT platforms
• Build and deploy security solutions that scale across the organization's Windows infrastructure
• Develop automation and tooling using PowerShell, Python and security product APIs
• Drive vulnerability management initiatives and coordinate remediation efforts
• Investigate emerging threats and develop countermeasures
• Provide technical consultancy and security guidance to the broader IT team
• Secure internal IT and remote working platforms through hands-on engineering work
• Monitor and enhance endpoint security, EDR, and vulnerability management solutions

What We're Looking For

• Strong Windows OS security engineering background with experience resolving complex technical issues in fast-paced environments
• Hands-on experience with Windows security technologies: application control, host-based firewalls, auditing, event monitoring, and disk encryption
• Proven experience administering endpoint security solutions including antivirus, anti-malware, EDR, vulnerability scanning and patch management
• Deep knowledge of security best practices: OS hardening, privileged access management, and vulnerability mitigation
• Understanding of common threat tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and effective countermeasures
• Strong expertise in Windows core infrastructure services (Active Directory, EntraID, PKI)
• Demonstrated ability to automate workflows using PowerShell or other scripting languages
• Experience working with security tooling and APIs to build integrated solutions
• Passion for creating scalable and repeatable security practices through automation
• Flexible, reliable and highly collaborative working style
• Fluent in English
