Founding Operations Engineer (Legal)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech client building next-generation investment infrastructure. This is a unique founding-level operations role for a qualified legal professional who is equally comfortable automating processes as they are reviewing deal documentation. Our client is post-product-market-fit and scaling rapidly, processing hundreds of millions in investment flows annually.

This is not a traditional legal counsel position. You will be embedded in operations, working to transform manual legal and operational workflows into automated systems. The expectation is that you'll spend more time building solutions with AI tools than drafting documents manually.

Responsibilities

• Own post-close legal operations including governance events, transfers, secondaries, distributions, and exits
• Handle complex legal matters where standard documentation requires interpretation or escalation
• Manage all legal escalations originating from the operations team
• Design and build automation solutions to streamline legal and operational workflows, working autonomously with no-code tools, scripts, and AI-assisted development
• Collaborate with operations teams to identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements
• Manage relationships with external counsel, determining what work stays in-house versus outsourced
• Hold external advisers accountable on cost and turnaround times
• Continuously simplify and optimize systems end-to-end

What We're Looking For

• Qualified legal professional with substantive experience in funds, corporate, or financial services deal work
• Demonstrated track record of building automated solutions to operational problems—whether through no-code platforms, scripting, or AI-assisted tools
• Detail-oriented execution: you understand systems comprehensively and maintain tight control over all moving parts
• First-principles thinking: ability to challenge inherited conventions and question why processes exist at all
• Commercial judgment in regulated environments, comfortable balancing regulatory requirements with business objectives
• Autonomous decision-making ability without requiring complete information
• Preference for hands-on operating over management or purely advisory work
• Comfort with fast-paced environments and high standards
• Willingness to work in-office at least three days per week in London

This role is not suitable if you: seek traditional legal counsel work, require extensive guidance before forming views, are primarily interested in product management rather than operations, prefer close management, are risk-averse, want standard working hours, or prioritize headline fundraising over capital efficiency.

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: £80,000 - £100,000 base salary, plus meaningful equity grant. The client offers flexibility on the mix of cash and equity based on candidate preference.
