Financial Analyst (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential venture capital firm in Essen seeking a Financial Analyst to support their finance operations. In this role, you will:

• Support accounting and controlling activities, including bookkeeping evaluations, annual financial statement preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analyses for investment funds and their portfolio companies
• Review and analyze financial data from portfolio companies and deliver critical insights to the investment team
• Assist in preparing investor reports, covering fund performance, capital calls, and distributions
• Support the development of financial processes, policies, and systems to improve reporting efficiency and accuracy both internally and across portfolio companies
• Assist with regulatory reporting to local and international supervisory authorities
• Contribute to annual ESG reporting at both fund and portfolio levels
• Collaborate closely with management and investment teams in reviews and day-to-day operations
• Work alongside an interdisciplinary team to support portfolio companies through their growth journey

What We're Looking For

• Commercial training or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
• Initial practical experience in a finance-related role, whether through internships or working student positions at an audit firm, consulting, or similar industry; venture capital experience is advantageous but can be developed during onboarding
• Familiarity with financial reporting and accounting principles, as well as initial experience with financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting
• Strong communication skills for interactions with team members, portfolio companies, and external partners
• Proficiency with digital tools, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); interest in artificial intelligence is a clear plus
• Fluent in both German and English
• Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong sense of responsibility and organizational talent
