Excise Tax-Senior

EY is seeking an experienced Excise Tax-Senior professional to join our Tax practice in Cloverdale, Shelby County. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide specialized expertise in excise tax compliance, planning, and advisory services to clients across diverse industries.

About the Role

As an Excise Tax-Senior, you will lead tax advisory engagements focused on excise tax matters. You'll work with clients to navigate complex federal, state, and local excise tax requirements, develop strategic tax positions, and ensure regulatory compliance. This role combines deep technical knowledge with client-facing advisory work in a collaborative professional environment.

What You'll Do

• Lead excise tax compliance and advisory engagements for diverse clients
• Develop tax strategies and technical positions on excise tax issues
• Prepare technical tax analyses, memoranda, and client deliverables
• Research and advise on federal, state, and local excise tax regulations
• Support clients with excise tax risk identification and mitigation strategies
• Collaborate with colleagues across tax and audit functions
• Mentor and develop junior tax professionals on the team

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or related field
• Substantial experience in excise tax advisory, compliance, or planning
• In-depth knowledge of federal excise tax regulations and principles
• Demonstrated experience addressing state and local excise tax matters
• CPA certification or eligibility to obtain it
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to manage multiple client engagements and priorities simultaneously
• Proficiency with tax research tools and accounting software platforms
