Engineering Manager (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a leading technology organization in the automotive marketplace sector. Our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a cross-functional engineering team building scalable, reliable software products. This is a remote position where you'll combine people leadership with strong technical judgment, partnering closely with Product and stakeholders to deliver meaningful customer and business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing engineering team
• Partner closely with Product to define priorities and successfully deliver the roadmap
• Drive technical excellence, engineering quality and operational maturity
• Lead architecture and technical discussions across multiple teams
• Drive strong engineering practices across delivery, quality, security, reliability and operational excellence
• Improve system reliability, scalability and performance for business-critical platforms
• Coordinate complex initiatives involving multiple engineering teams and external dependencies
• Foster a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement
• Operate at a high level of efficiency using modern AI-assisted development tools
• Coach engineers on adopting AI to improve software quality and delivery speed
• Act as a role model for effective AI usage across engineering and leadership activities
• Identify opportunities to integrate AI throughout the software development lifecycle

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience leading software engineering teams
• Strong prior experience as a hands-on software engineer
• Experience building and operating large-scale backend or distributed systems
• Strong software engineering background with modern programming languages and development practices
• Experience improving engineering quality, reliability and operational practices
• Proven ability to deliver complex cross-team initiatives with multiple stakeholders
• Passion for coaching engineers and building high-performing teams
• Experience driving adoption of modern AI development practices within engineering teams is highly desirable
