About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing food brand in Berlin that is scaling from digital-first origins into a major omnichannel presence across European retail. Our client needs a senior supply chain leader who can solve one of the hardest problems in food distribution: delivering full product availability while driving toward zero waste.

As Director Supply Chain Planning, you will own the twin metrics that define excellence in this space—product availability and inventory health—and build the planning infrastructure that allows both to improve simultaneously. This is a high-impact role for someone who has transformed manual supply chain operations into scalable, automated systems that grow with the business.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end accountability for product availability across online and retail channels, and for inventory health metrics including overstock reduction and waste elimination
  • Lead supply planning, inventory planning, and product replenishment teams; develop talent while maintaining rigorous performance standards
  • Design and implement automated planning systems that operate on management-by-exception principles—where standard cases run autonomously and human intervention focuses on high-value decisions
  • Challenge and refine demand forecasting processes, especially for retail promotions, new listings, seasonality, and SKU transitions
  • Partner closely with product development, procurement, retail operations, marketing, logistics, quality, and data/AI teams to align supply chain capabilities with commercial growth
  • Transform legacy manual processes into intelligent, scalable operations that support rapid expansion

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated track record transforming supply chain planning from reactive/manual to automated and exception-based, with measurable results
  • Proven leadership building and developing planning or supply chain teams in fast-paced environments
  • Substantial experience planning demand for retail channels; omnichannel background strongly preferred, but retail experience is essential
  • Deep ownership of core KPIs (availability, overstock, waste) and the ability to manage trade-offs with clarity and conviction
  • Strong analytical and systems thinking combined with pragmatic, iterative execution suited to scaling organizations
  • Fluent English required; German is a plus
  • Comfortable taking initiative, building solutions from scratch, and thriving amid shifting priorities
