About This Opportunity
Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential EdTech organization in their search for a Director of Enterprise Technology. This is a rare opportunity to lead IT through a critical growth phase as our client scales toward becoming a publicly traded company.
You'll own the entire IT function end-to-end—both the day-to-day operations supporting 1,000+ employees and the strategic systems implementations that will carry the business through IPO readiness. This isn't a "keep the lights on" role separated from transformation work; you'll be accountable for both, ensuring they move in lockstep as the organization scales.
The ideal candidate is genuinely AI-native—someone who sees automation and AI as the engine that allows a lean team to support rapid growth without simply adding headcount. You'll turn IT from a cost center into a strategic driver of business outcomes.
Responsibilities
BAU IT Operations
- Manage operational IT across the organization, ensuring excellent support for 1,000+ employees
- Deliver seamless and secure onboarding, transitions, and offboarding experiences
- Handle incidents swiftly and professionally through your in-house team
- Own resourcing, workload management, and service standards directly
- Meet SLAs and maintain clear visibility of team performance
IT Systems Implementation
- Lead planning and delivery of systems and platform changes needed for scale
- Implement new tooling, integrations, identity and endpoint platform upgrades
- Automate manual processes and build technical controls for audit readiness
- Run implementations as real projects with clear scoping, testing, and rollout plans
- Minimize disruption to BAU operations during system changes
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the entire in-house IT team, balancing BAU and project workloads
- Own the IT budget and roadmap, making trade-off decisions between immediate fixes and long-term solutions
- Represent IT to executive leadership, auditors, and board members
- Drive continuous improvement, spotting manual processes to automate
- Build credible stakeholder relationships, anticipating needs rather than just responding to requests
- Establish documentation, change management, and incident processes that scale
First 6–12 Months Impact
- Stabilize service delivery with clear SLAs and visible team standards
- Ship at least one major systems implementation from scope to live rollout
- Develop a clear roadmap enabling IT to power the business rather than create drag
- Establish team model splitting time between BAU, projects, and continuous improvement
- Set visible standards for AI and automation across the team
- Introduce documentation and processes that hold up under IPO-level scrutiny
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience & Skills
- 7+ years in IT operations or IT leadership, including 3+ years as the most senior IT person or leading multiple IT functions
- Proven experience owning IT strategy and service delivery in a scaling organization with a fully in-house team
- Track record managing to SLAs and internal standards
- Experience selecting, procuring, and managing software/tooling vendor relationships including contracts and budgets
- Led systems or platform implementations end-to-end while running BAU in parallel
- Strong automation mindset with proven workflows that saved measurable time using scripting (Python/Bash) or platforms like n8n, Zapier, or Workato
- Genuinely AI-native leader who uses AI tools daily and can distinguish real agentic workflows from basic chatbot wrappers
- Views automation and AI as core to headcount planning, work prioritization, and strategic outcomes delivery
- Solid technical foundation in identity management (Okta, Entra ID, or JumpCloud), endpoint management, and SaaS administration (Google Workspace or equivalent)
- Comfortable owning trade-offs between "run the business" and "change the business" investment
- Excellent communication skills—calm under pressure, credible with end-users, vendors, auditors, and senior leadership
- Process-minded with bias for documentation, change control, and continuous improvement
- Full ownership experience including budget management, vendor negotiation, and direct people leadership
Highly Desirable
- Experience in tech or EdTech high-growth environments, ideally through significant scaling milestones
- Direct exposure to IPO or public-company readiness work (SOX, ITGCs, access reviews, audit evidence)
- Hands-on experience with modern identity platforms, especially Okta Workflows
- Familiarity with FreshService (or similar ITSM), Google Workspace, endpoint security/EDR tooling
- Understanding of security frameworks such as ISO 27001, particularly controls and evidence for IPO readiness
- ITIL foundation or equivalent service management knowledge
- Experience with incident management frameworks and tooling
- Experience presenting IT performance, risk, or roadmap to executive teams or boards
Location & Work Arrangement
- Based in London
- Hybrid work model: typically three days per week in office
- Work-from-anywhere scheme available (up to 10 days per year)
