Director, International Communications – Remote (Mexico)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential education technology organization in their search for a Director, International Communications based remotely in Mexico. This is a senior-level role for a seasoned communications professional who will own the communications, PR, and thought leadership strategy across key international markets outside North America.

Our client seeks a proactive self-starter who consistently integrates PR and communications into broader marketing strategies and brings innovative approaches to market engagement. You'll work across multiple time zones, building and engaging audiences primarily in the higher education sector across EMEA, Latin America, and Asia Pacific.

Responsibilities

• Lead communications strategy across EMEA, Latin America, and Asia Pacific markets
• Develop and activate communications narratives and messaging pillars across international regions
• Integrate PR and communications into existing marketing strategies while pioneering new engagement approaches
• Partner with international spokespeople and regional teams to identify industry trends and establish thought leadership
• Leverage byline articles and interviews to position core messages and amplify customer stories
• Localize and coordinate distribution of global announcements
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, market research analysts, and industry influencers
• Guide spokespeople through proactive and reactive crisis management and issue response
• Coordinate with PR agencies and conduct direct outreach to secure media placements in trade, general, and business press
• Manage regional press and media resources
• Produce quarterly share of voice and earned media reports
• Draft, monitor, and evaluate OKR progress throughout the year

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in business, communications, or related field
• 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, strategic communications, public relations, or analyst relations, including senior leadership roles
• Full fluency and strong command of English is mandatory - all meetings, communications, strategic plans, and messaging are conducted in English first
• Proven track record building and running communications programs across EMEA, Latin America, and Asia Pacific
• Deep expertise across public relations, social media, and message development
• Strong collaboration skills with ability to work across highly matrixed organizations and drive business outcomes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences
• Cross-functional leadership experience with judgment to set strategy and willingness to execute when needed
• Highly motivated and adaptable to changing market and organizational needs
• Track record organizing initiatives into clear documentation and building prioritization systems
• Experience owning crisis and issues management in international markets
• Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred
