Director – End Market Development

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential environmental services organization in their search for a Director of End Market Development. This is a senior leadership role focused on strategic assessment and performance management of recycling facilities, with primary emphasis on plastics and fiber materials. You'll work at the intersection of policy and operations, evaluating opportunities to develop and expand end markets while ensuring the viability of funded facilities.

This position plays a critical role in achieving diversion targets and fulfilling obligations under Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations. The Director will collaborate across multiple departments including compliance, data analytics, finance, and operations teams to align end market development strategies with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a multi-year recycling infrastructure development strategy aligned with organizational EPR targets and material-specific goals
• Identify ideal partner companies and lead engagement activities to drive expansion and development initiatives
• Analyze business cases, feasibility studies, and capital plans submitted by facility operators and service providers
• Support executive relationship management with recycling facilities and industry partners
• Structure and negotiate funding agreements, grants, and performance-based contracts with recycling facility operators
• Review and assess facility performance against established key performance indicators
• Oversee third-party technical audits and environmental assessments
• Map and identify key partners and potential investors for new applications and facility expansion opportunities
• Build and maintain relationships with funding organizations, partnership opportunities, and industry trade associations
• Represent the organization at industry conferences and government working groups
• Monitor recycling capacity growth year-over-year for targeted materials
• Manage development pipeline execution and strategic partnerships

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Public Policy, or related field preferred
• 10+ years of operational experience in business development and expansion, ideally in recycling facilities or similar industries
• 3+ years of leadership experience required
• Deep understanding of EPR regulatory frameworks across U.S. jurisdictions
• Strong business case analysis and risk assessment capabilities
• Technical knowledge of recycling end-market dynamics and process technology
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to synthesize complex technical, financial, and regulatory information
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills
• Experience developing end market recycling solutions for various materials
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels
• Detail-oriented with commitment to accuracy and compliance
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to organizational evolution
• Valid Driver's License with clean driving history required
