About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential French engineering institution located in Douai, Hauts-de-France. We are seeking an experienced academic leader to serve as Director of General Engineering Education (Directeur·rice de la formation Ingénieur Généraliste) on a permanent contract basis.
This role reports to the Director of Education and Training and oversees the strategic design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the general engineering curriculum. You will lead faculty coordination, ensure academic quality standards, manage budgetary resources, and represent the program to external partners and accreditation bodies.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve the educational framework in collaboration with faculty, industry partners, and student feedback, including learning outcomes, competency frameworks, assessment methods, and pedagogical innovations
- Lead the program steering committee and coordinate teaching staff (permanent faculty, adjunct instructors, and industry mentors) to ensure curriculum coherence
- Supervise operational deployment of initial and continuing education programs, including admissions, scheduling, and academic/administrative student support
- Implement and manage work-study contracts (contrats de professionnalisation) within the general engineering program
- Ensure budgetary control, allocate pedagogical resources, and make strategic investment decisions
- Monitor student success metrics, progression rates, and engagement indicators; implement improvement actions based on stakeholder feedback
- Lead accreditation processes for the program under the oversight of senior leadership
- Conduct pedagogical research and professional forecasting on evolving career requirements and competencies
- Represent the program at open houses, career fairs, and professional forums; maintain relationships with institutional and industry partners
- Manage, develop, and mentor the program team
What We're Looking For
Required Experience:
- 5 to 10 years of experience in higher education or professional training
- Knowledge of French competency frameworks (CTI, RNCP)
- English proficiency at B2 level or equivalent

- Pedagogical leadership and ability to facilitate collaborative teams
- Strong listening skills and capacity to build consensus
- Rigorous organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Innovation mindset and openness to pedagogical evolution
- Disciplinary or sectoral expertise relevant to engineering education
- Mastery of educational engineering and accreditation processes
- Proven ability to build and sustain academic and industrial partnerships
- Project management expertise and ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Understanding of systemic themes including climate transition and artificial intelligence
Regular travel between campus locations is required. This position is open to candidates who are French civil servants seeking mobility or those interested in a public-sector contract (contractuel de droit public). The role can be adapted for candidates with disabilities.
