We are representing a confidential technology client in London who is seeking a Data Science Manager to lead analytical strategy and team development within their fast-growing marketplace platform. This is an excellent opportunity to shape data-driven decision-making across product, commercial, and operational functions while managing and mentoring a talented team of data scientists.

Responsibilities

• Own the analytical direction and measurable impact for a product or business area within the marketplace ecosystem
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of data scientists, supporting their career growth and technical development
• Set analytical priorities and determine which problems are worth solving, ensuring data science work translates into actionable product and commercial decisions
• Remain hands-on while managing your team, maintaining technical credibility in experimentation, causal inference, or applied machine learning
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, Marketing, and Finance teams as a strategic thought partner
• Establish standards for analytical rigour, prioritisation, and impact across complex metrics and competing stakeholder priorities
• Drive work across various domains including customer retention, pricing strategy, personalisation, or acquisition depending on team placement

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience line managing data scientists and supporting their professional development
• Strong background as a senior individual contributor with hands-on expertise in experimentation, causal inference, or applied machine learning
• Demonstrated ability to identify high-impact opportunities and translate insights into clear strategy and execution plans
• Confidence working with senior stakeholders and communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Comfort operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where prioritisation and judgment are as critical as technical skill
• Track record of delivering measurable business impact through data science initiatives
• Experience working in marketplace, e-commerce, or consumer technology environments is valuable but not required
