Data Center IT Technician

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization seeking a Data Center IT Technician for their Newport facility. In this hands-on role, you will maintain and optimize critical IT infrastructure including modern GPU clusters, servers, and networking equipment.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Monitor and support IT infrastructure during shift work (day and night shifts)
• Diagnose and resolve server and network hardware issues within the data center environment
• Perform installation, upgrades, and decommissioning of IT hardware according to operational requirements
• Manage and maintain fiber optic and patch cable connectivity
• Handle Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs) in compliance with procedures and documentation standards
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve technical and operational challenges
• Maintain accurate documentation, manuals, and procedures for hardware configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities

Please note: This position requires shift work including day and night shifts, and may involve travel between facilities and participation in on-call rotations.

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Solid understanding of server and networking equipment
• Practical, hands-on experience with server hardware, network switches, and fiber optic cabling
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues
• Proactive, responsible, and results-driven work attitude
• Willingness to work shift patterns including nights

Preferred qualifications:

• Valid Category B driving license
• Basic knowledge of Linux operating system and familiarity with command-line tools
